General rules of thumb
Rule number 1 - Kiln Dried Logs are better than Fire logs and Heat Logs. Fire Logs and Heat Logs are better than Seasoned Logs and unseasoned logs are cheapest but require seasoning before you burn them.
Rule number 2 - Hardwood logs burn hotter than and longer than softwood logs - whereas softwood is cheaper to buy.
Rule number 3 - If you have an appliance - like a wood burning stove, a multi fuel stove or a boiler always follow the manufacturer's instructions and guidance.
Quality comes first
When searching for logs for sale online it is important to consider the quality of the wood, as well as the price. Although Kiln Dried Logs may be a bit more, their superior quality means that their burning performance is actually greater value for money than cheaper wood products. This is because Kiln Dried Logs are specially dried in a purpose built kiln which drives down their moisture content to less than 20%. This means that less energy is wasted removing moisture and is instead converted into heat for your home.
