Energy Prices Hike in UK!

There's no time like the present to move over to wood fuels.

We recently blogged about the price of energy rising in the UK, but we didn't share the same appreciation of just how much energy prices could rise.

On Friday 9th October 2009, Energy watchdog Ofgem announced a worst case scenario predication for the UK that prices of gas and electricity could rise by as much as 60%! This is astounding and a key signal to users of these energy forms to make the shift to alternative energy solutions.

We've also been looking at government initiatives for promoting wood biomass fuels.  We  found that in America there is a scheme to incentivise the purchasing of wood burning stoves and multi-fuel stoves, whereby if you choose to convert your existing heating system to a wood fuel based one, you'll recieve a discount on your purchase from the Government.

Developing scheme's in the UK would also be useful for helping people to make a transition to burning wood as a fuel.
